LISBON, PORTUGAL (June 7, 2023) – AlmaLusa Hotels announces a new menu of curated outdoor activities for guests to discover the unspoiled Alentejo coast from its new AlmaLusa Comporta hotel, which opened in November.
The 53-room-and-suite hotel is in a prime location for beach enthusiasts and nature lovers at just an hour and a half south of Lisbon in the heart of the village of Comporta. The only hotel in the village, and the only one in the area within walking distance to a beach, AlmaLusa Comporta allows guests to unplug and discover its setting next to the Sado river, with some of the most beautiful beaches on the Alentejo coast and rice fields that carpet the ground for as far as the eye can see.
Guests can enjoy sweeping views of the landscape from The RoofTop Bar, take a refreshing swim in the outdoor pool and try delicious and healthy food and beverages on the Pool Terrace or AlmaLusa Cafe. To bring in the local culture outside its doors, the hotel has curated artist collaborations and selected the finest Portuguese products for its guests. Surf or Stand-Up Paddle Board Lessons
Created in 2008, Surf in Comporta was the first surf school in the Grândola area. The lessons are adaptable to any age and level of proficiency and can also be taught in different languages with group or private options. Surf lessons from 40€ (group) to 150€ (private). SUP lessons from 40€ (group) to 85€ (private). Stand Up Paddle Yoga classes from 30€ (group) to 85€ (private).
Bike or E-Bike Through Rice Paddies
AlmaLusa has a variety of bicycles available for guests to explore the region's streets, trails, rice paddies and beaches, from mountain bikes to fat bikes for riding on the sand to e-bikes and childrens bikes and child seats. Suggested routes can be found on the AlmaLusa Hotels app. From 15€ (4 hours) to 70€ (weekly). E-bikes are 20€ (4 hours) to 130€ (weekly).
Dolphin-Watching Sail Excursion
AlmaLusa Comporta has partnered with a pioneer company offering dolphin watching sailing excursions on the Sado Estuary with a mission to contribute to the monitoring and protection of the Sado River dolphins. Discover this unique community of dolphins, and learn about the incredible landscapes of the Estuary, the Troia coast and Arrábida, under the guidance of an experienced team. From 20€ (child) to 40€ (adult) for a 2.5 hour sail.
Canoeing and Horseback Riding in the Sado River
The "Horses in the River" tour combines horseback riding with canoeing along the banks of the Sado River, then moves to a canoe trip down the river for approximately 3 km. Afterwards, guests can enjoy a picnic lunch at Casa das Cegonhas. From 2 hours at 110€/person or with lunch from 150€/person.
Discovering Roman Ruins by Boat
Embark on a boat trip on the Sado River with a choice of two destinations: Alcácer do Sal or Serra da Arrábida. Along the way, enjoy the tranquility, landscape and the surrounding environment. You will have the opportunity to observe birds, rice fields, salt pans and the region's famous Roman ruins. 3 hours from 600€.
Seeing Flamingos of the Sado Estuary
Discover the flamingos of the Sado Estuary by boat. Available from October to March. 3 hours from 40€ adult or €20 child.
Horseback Riding along the Beach
Ride on horseback along a path between never ending rice fields, pine forests and white sand dunes to the beach. Choose between a group ride or custom private ride with a route of your choice. From 1.5 hrs at 70€ per person; classes at 35€ per person for 30 minutes and photography packages including drone footage from 40€.
Golfing at one of 2 Courses
Comporta’s mild climate year round, and its tranquil atmosphere are perfect for golfing. AlmaLusa has partnered with the area’s two golf courses: Troia Golf, which was voted one of the 10 best resorts in Continental Europe by Golf World magazine in 2019 with stunning views over Serra da Arrábida (18 holes - 102€), and Dunas Golf Course, designed by the famed McLay Kidd (18 holes - 175€).
All-Natural Treatments in the Spa Suite
After a day of adventuring, guests can now indulge in an array of bespoke massages and treatments in AlmaLusa Comporta’s Spa Suite. The new Spa Suite menu, launched in partnership with natural skincare and wellness brand, Elemental Herbology, brings together the art of relaxation and the power of nature, for the ultimate wellness experience.
