SOUFRIERE, ST. LUCIA (Feb. 22, 2024) – Long known for its award-winning restaurant, Dasheene, Ladera (www.ladera.com) has unveiled new dining concepts around the resort’s Piton Mountain setting.
Built by hand, on a UNESCO World Heritage site, from local resources, artistry and passion, Ladera sits in the heart of the Pitons along a volcanic ridge. Its 37 rooms and suites are immersed in nature with breathtaking views of one of the most stunning landscapes on earth. Ladera pioneered the three-wall design for its guestrooms and its public spaces and restaurant offer sweeping, open-air vistas as well, offering a front row seat at the theater of Mother Nature performing every day in the Pitons.
INTRODUCING NEW DINING
As part of a multi-phase re-envisioning of Ladera, new dining concepts and menus were introduced this winter throughout the 17-acre resort. The gourmet restaurant, Dasheene, has introduced a new menu of St. Lucian flavors while continuing to support the local community of farmers and fisherman by sourcing as much as possible from the island’s purveyors, paired with fruit and spices grown on site at Ladera. Chef Nigel Mitchell continues his award-winning vision for Dasheene with new entrees like Green Fig and Saltfish; Creole Fish and the St. Lucian Pepper Pot.
An intimate dining experience awaits in the new Wine Room of Dasheene where guests can enjoy Chef Nigel’s island-inspired tasting menu (with gluten-free options), while they sample from one of the largest selections of wines on Saint Lucia with more than 170 meticulously curated options.
Tucked away along a leafy path, guests can discover the new Hideaway Rum Bar which offers tastings of rums from across the Caribbean, along with a menu of rum-based cocktails, many of which feature local St. Lucian rum, Chairman’s Reserve, as well as light bites.
And now each month, tying in with the local tradition of the Friday Fish Fry street party in nearby Gros Islet, Ladera has introduced a Sunset Fish Fry. Launching on Feb. 29, the monthly event will take place around the pool deck with the sun setting dramatically beyond the Piton mountains, and the theater of Chef Nigel cooking fresh lobster, fish and vegetables in front of guests, while live Caribbean music is performed and a menu of tropical cocktails are being served.
New morning and mid-day menus offer more casual and healthy dining around the pool, featuring fresh fruit smoothies, salads, grilled and vegetarian dishes, each with an island touch. Plus, a new mocktail menu features the finest non-alcoholic mixology offering a healthy variety of choices.
The re-envisioning at Ladera continues with new room décor and a new wellness center, set in Mother Nature, to be unveiled this spring.
Ladera rates start at US $1,290.00 for a Petit Piton Suite including Full Breakfast and Private Airport Transfers.
